CPR for Schools

The classroom was buzzing. Rows of children leaned forward as a student volunteer pressed on a mannequin’s chest.
“Push hard, push fast,” the trainer called out.
The children counted in unison: 1, 2, 3… 30!

This was no ordinary class. It was a CPR training session at a city school, led by the passionate students of the ECHO initiative.

Why schools? Because the ECHO team believed that courage doesn’t have to wait until adulthood. If children can learn to swim, ride a cycle, or call for help, they can also learn the basics of CPR.

With mentoring from M.I.C.E Labs, the team created child-friendly workshops filled with stories, demonstrations, and lots of practice. The energy was infectious. Children who came in shy left the room proudly saying, “I know how to save a life.”

One 12-year-old asked:

“Can I really save my grandma if she faints?”
The trainer smiled:
“Yes. Even if you just check her breathing and press on her chest, you can keep her alive until help comes.”

The results were inspiring. Children went home and taught their parents what they learned. Some practiced on their teddy bears. A few even organized mini-awareness drives in their schools.

The impact is immeasurable. These students may be tomorrow’s doctors, engineers, teachers, or artists—but today, they already carry the confidence to act in a crisis.

For us at M.I.C.E Labs, supporting this work felt like planting seeds for a safer tomorrow. Because when children grow up knowing their hands can bring back a heartbeat, we are building not just a generation of professionals, but a generation of lifesavers.

Together, these three journeys—medical students, laypeople, and school children—make up the story of the ECHO CPR initiative at GGMC, mentored by M.I.C.E Labs.

It is more than training. It is more than awareness.
It is a movement of empathy, courage, and humanity.
