Chai Pe Charcha: Bridging Knowledge, Research, and Innovation

On a vibrant evening at Grant Government Medical College (GGMC), Chai Pe Charcha, a collaborative event by Medical Innovation Creativity and Entrepreneurship (M.I.C.E) Labs and RISE, brought together some of the brightest minds in medicine and innovation. With over 200 enthusiastic students in attendance, the event was a blend of inspiration, learning, and insightful conversations.

The evening commenced with Dr. Vishal Jha, the Founding Director of Aroha Superspeciality Hospital,by sharing his journey as a social healthcare entrepreneur. He inspired students to think beyond clinical practice and build ventures that create social impact.

Next,  Dr. Advait Mehendale, Assistant Professor at GGMC and the in-charge of the Medical ICU at Sir J.J. Group of Hospitals, sharing his journey of excellence in patient care and research. His accomplishments include a gold medal in Ophthalmology and numerous publications. Dr. Mehendale emphasized the importance of balancing academics, clinical expertise, and personal growth.

Dr. Abdullah Siddiqui, Chief Technical Officer at RequirStats, spoke about his pioneering research in Functional Neurosurgery and his experience with USMLE exams. His vision of simplifying biostatistics and developing non-invasive technologies for intracranial pressure monitoring left students curious and motivated

Next, Rutik, the founder of One TheraCure and Nuorentaa, mesmerized the audience with his groundbreaking work in drug discovery and healthcare innovation, which earned him the distinction of being the youngest individual to receive a drug discovery patent globally. He inspired students to embrace research and innovation early in their careers.

Sonya Amin, a final-year MBBS student at Seth GS Medical College concluded the session by sharing her journey of excelling in research and surgery aspirations. With accolades like her contribution to the Oxford COVID-19 Government Response Tracker and hackathon victories, she encouraged students to stay intrinsically motivated and chase excellence.

The highlight of the event was the open Q&A session, where students engaged with the speakers on topics like clinical and research management, entrepreneurship, and life as a medical professional. The speakers’ candid responses left everyone with valuable insights and actionable advice.

The event was a resounding success, highlighting the importance of peer learning, mentorship, and collaboration. It was a perfect example of how medical students and professionals can come together to foster a culture of knowledge sharing and innovation.
