Genesis Medical Hackathon: Creating Innovative Healthcare Solutions

The Indian Medical Association- Medical Students’ Network (IMA-MSN)- Maharashtra, in collaboration with Medical Innovation Creativity and Entrepreneurship (M.I.C.E) Labs, successfully organized “Genesis: The Medical Hackathon,” a two-day event held from June 29th to June 30th, 2024. This event brought together medical and engineering students to address real-world healthcare challenges through innovative problem-solving.

Day 1: Design Thinking Workshop and Team Formation

The event kicked off with an engaging design thinking workshop, led by mentors of M.I.C.E Labs. Participants were introduced to the principles of design thinking and engaged in various activities to tackle real-life healthcare problems. The interactive workshop fostered a collaborative environment where students could share ideas and explore creative solutions.

In the latter half of the day, participants were divided into three teams. Each team selected a problem statement from a pool of healthcare challenges, setting the stage for focused and intensive brainstorming sessions. The teams then began their initial work on these problem statements, laying the groundwork for innovative solutions.

Day 2: Ideation, Mentoring, and Presentations

Day 2 began with the ideation phase, where teams refined their concepts and developed actionable solutions. Each team received one-on-one mentoring to ensure their ideas were practical and impactful. The mentors provided valuable insights and guidance, helping teams navigate the complexities of their chosen problem statements.

As the day progressed, teams prepared to present their work to a distinguished panel of judges. The judging panel comprised esteemed professionals from various backgrounds, including Dr. Satish Deopujari, Prof. Dr. Kailas Wasewar, Dr. C. Ravikumar, and Dr. Ravindra Keskar. Each team showcased their innovative solutions, demonstrating their ability to apply design thinking principles to real-world healthcare challenges.
