‘SKILL LAB’ For MBBS Students

This laboratory was inaugurated by Maharashtra Minister of State for Medical Education Ravindra Chavan. These laboratories were constructed by the concept provided by Maharashtra Medical education minister Girish Mahajan.

Dr Mukund Tayade, Acting Dean, JJ Hospital, said, ‘Everyday, we are witnessing the development of new technology worldwide. With this lab, we are trying to promote our students to think creatively.’

Associate Professor of the microbiology department, Dr Sarala Menon said, medical students need a break from their extensive study schedule.

‘This lab will help boost their innovative skills, thinking and imagination ability. In-vitro fertilisation expert Dr Anirudh Malpani has given Rs 25 lakh to construct the lab and in addition, will give Rs 10 lakh financial assistance every year,’ she added.

Dr Menon further said the lab will be separate and not affect students’ academic performance.

‘A student who desires to work here can come and test their abilities. We have appointed more than six students as brand ambassadors so that more students are drawn towards this,’ she added.

In addition to this lab, a plasma fractionation centre, an air-conditioned medicine distribution centre, a club foot clinic in the orthopaedics department and a newly renovated hospital kitchen was also inaugurated. A special OPD for handicap persons has also been established.

Dr Pravin Shingare – director of the state Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Dr Mukund Tayade – Acting Dean, JJ Hospital, Joint Director – Dr Tatyarao Lahane, Dr Prakash Vakode, Medical Superintendent Dr Vijay Surase, Dr Venkat Gite and St George Hospital’s Medical Superintendent Madhukar Gaikwad were also present at the event.
