The M.I.C.E Labs Fellowship Program

We the team of M.I.C.E Labs proudly announce the beginning of the “M.I.C.E Labs Fellowship Program”

The entire world’s healthcare system faced an entire pushback because of the novel coronavirus and created havoc amongst the whole world. The COVID 19 pandemic taught us to bring about innovations that are frugal and useful for tackling various aspects of our lifestyles.

We, therefore, coined the M.I.C.E Labs fellowship program to encourage and develop various healthcare innovations that have market potential to make an impact, especially for hospitals.
We used an interdisciplinary approach to bring young and agile minds with different expertise from medicine, design & engineering to come together and brainstorm on various unmet clinical needs.

These students (hence called fellows) are put under senior doctors of J.J. Hospitals who give them a realistic on-ground exposure to the healthcare scenario. They undergo a complete clinical immersion to completely empathize with the patients, nurses, healthcare staff, etc to understand workflow patterns and clinical protocols.
Based upon the clinical immersions, the observations are recorded, and using the process of design thinking (inspired from Stanford’s Biodesign program) brainstorm and ideate on various possibilities to solve the problem.
They create quick prototypes and proof of concepts to check and get feedback from various stakeholders involved to see and improve it according to the user of the product/service.
We are currently working with 7 teams working on different problem statements

1. Team 1 : An effective way to avoid hypovolemic shock when the peripheral IV line is not sufficient

2. Team 2 : An effective way to provide rehab to injured upper limbs

3. Team 3 : An effective way to handle postpartum hemorrhage to avoid hypovolemic shock
